The line chart provides a statistical breakdown of the proportion of British domestic automobile possession over a 41-year period commencing from 1990 with projections.

Overall, there was a climb in the percentage of car-owing residences, whereas a reversed pattern was observed in the value of households with no cars.

At the outset, the proportion of no-car, one-car and over-two-car families were respectively over a half, 36% and 12%. The figure for houses without cars plummeted by 20% in the following 20 years, whilst that of households with an automobile upsurged to 56% in 2005 and then dipped by 6% in 2010, being the most prominent of all. There were around 10-20% of residences owning more than 2 cars in the same course.

From 2010 onwards, the percentage of households not possessing cars flattened out for 10 years before plunging below 20% eventually. One-car residences witnessed a drop to 43% with marginal variations. Over-2-automobiles’ statistics soared to 42% in 2030, nearly equating to the contemporarily highest category.
