Some people think painting and drawing are as important as other subjects, they should be compulsory in high school education. Do you agree or disagree?
It is true that arts-related subjects play a vital role in high school education. I complete agree that those subjects should be compulsory.
On the on hand, there are several reasons why numerous people agree with the idea that it is crucial to children in learning arts during the high school period. Firstly, art-related subjects are necessary for students in further education. For example, after high school graduation, essential skills formed through art subjects such as painting and drawing will certainly allow students who enter to universities to generate slides better. Secondly, art subjects are a contributing factor in the development of children. By learning those subjects, students are promoted creation, which is beneficial for mental development. Ultimately, painting and drawing are subjects that help students make a balance in time of learning at school because other subjects such as mathematics require high concentration whereas arts-related subjects allow children to enter a state of relaxation.
On the other hand, art subjects should be compulsory in high school. My argument can be analysed through the case that in Vietnam, parents tend to focus their children on learning STEM subjects at home due to the fact that in the parental belief, it will be easier to seek employment for children in the future if they study in those subjects. Without obligation, children will have a few opportunity to express their thought and ideas via practicing art subjects at home. Additionally, it would be wrong to a handful of students are likely to believe that arts would be reasonable for gifted individuals, and this would curb abilities by themselves. Therefore, if art subjects is optional, students will have less chance to explore their potential talents.
In conclusion, I totally agree that schools should be put art-related subjects under obligation because of its importance.
