We can see more disasters and violence shown on TV .What are its causes and what
effects will they exert on the individual and the society?
Nobody can deny the fact that there has been a increase in disasters and violence shown on TV in recent years. Many people express their great concern about this negative phenomenon in our society. In this essay, I shall discuss its main causes and its effects in both individual and society.
To begin with, the most visible cause of this issue is that the TV channels have a desire to increase their television rating point. Obviously, the higher television rating point is, the more they can get advertisements and thus earn much more money. For example, a local channel in VN has gained the double financial profits after they started to show some programs relating to violence and disasters. Therefore, the channels tend to catch up with this controversial issue just because of their better benefit.
Another undeniable reason is the higher viewer's demand. In this intergation era, people want to update the latest news from other countries whether it is negative or possitive and have an all- round view about our world. In fact, in some recent decades, not only the violence but aslo disasters are no longer strange and easily seen in many parts of the whole world. Thus, many TV programs are filled with violent and crime news which can sastify viewer's need.
From the main causes above, this phenomenon brings a lot of detrimental effects on our lives. Firstly, it has direct effects on children, who are not old enough to distinguish the right or wrong things. These violent programs might draw child's attention and children are likely to imitate the wrong actions. If this takes place regularly, children will shape their personality in a wrong way and easily commit a crime or society's vices in the future. Secondly, people will have tendency to solve with troubles by using violence when they get used to violence or crime. In other words, these channels is blamed for the aggressive behaviour of some individuals.
Iin conclusion, there are some indispensible reasons in this issue which are higher profits and people's demand along with some negative effects. So, governments should take action to reduce or even delete completely this issue to make our lives become better.
