In general, the food budget the average family spent on restaurant meals has increased in different years. People tend to eat on restaurant more regularly.

Clearly, in 1970 to 1980, there was more 5% of food budget spent on restaurant meals; after the next ten years, its figure rised to 35%. The amount of people went out for eating is equivalent to who use their meals at home. However, much more people enjoy fastfood meals rather than sitdown restaurant meals. From 1979 to 1980, there was 20-30 billion meals per yearand the number had grown up steadily within 20 years. In 1990, nearly third time number of meal compared with 1970 and in 2000, it got about 86 billion meals per year. While, sitdown restaurant meals rised slowly, in general. In 1980, there were more people used sitdown restaurant than fastfood ones. Just after 1980, the former is no longer a prority. Until 2000, sitdown restaurant meal was just over as half as fast food meals.

It is forecasted that both quantity of meal still grow up in the future.
