The bar chart below illustrates the change of student accommodation proportion during about four decades, from 1960s to 2000s. Overall, it can be seen that room in a shared house or flat with other students always took the highest position. Meanwhile, staying at home with own family was the minority throughout the period except in 2000s.

Firstly, in 1960s, room in a shared house or flat with other students and paying guest wityh a host family were the same as each other with about 35 percent. However, the first type of accommodation had been increasing continously before it peaked 70 percent in 2000s and became the most popular, the second one had  showed a downward trend and then reached the lowest proporiton when it declined by about 20 percent in comparison with its percentage in 1960s. Another couple  had the same percentage at first is students hall of residence and staying at home with own family, both of them also show some fluctuation between around 20 percent and 5 percent berfore they stayed the same once a again at just above 10 percent.
