Advertising is all around us, it is an unavoidable part of everyone’s life. Some people say that advertising is a positive part of our lives while others say it is a negative one.

Discuss both views and include your own opinion. Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

The relationship between advertising and merchandising has long been established in markets all around the world. While such practice of product promotion has raised different arguments among people of concern, I am inclined to the view that there is clear superiority of benefits over drawbacks.

Proponents of the idea often accuse companies of deceptive advertising. Discerning the recent massive influx of products and services into the market, hence the ever-increasing competition between businesses in order to appeal to customers, numerous firms would include misleading, yet interesting information in their commercials. The consequences might be deleterious as in the case of some unlisted ingredient triggering severe allergies.in people. Another rationale for the opposition to advertisement is that this practice accounts partly for the rising prices of goods in consequence of large expenditures companies spend on attracting publicity for their products.

Nevertheless, there are more convincing reasons why advertisement plays an integral part in our lives, one of which is its position as a channel between sellers and buyers. Were there no form of promotion, such as TV commercials and posters, existing at all, the public, overwhelmed by thousands of different goods saturating the market, would be baffled as to which to buy or where to make the best offer. Moreover, this million-dollar business annually offers ample job opportunities for a multitude of workers. Not only does this help reduce the unemployment rate but it could also make a major contribution to the national economy.

To sum up, I would like to reiterate that the merits outweigh the faults as regards advertisement. Companies in the years to come should make every endeavor to improve their advertising process in order for buyers to be better informed as well as have greater experience.

Pros:

+ Errors are either rare or non-critical.

+ You made good deployment of your lexical as well as grammar resources

+ The essay is clearly outlined

+ The main ideas are fairly easy to grasp

Cons:

+ You should be mindful of the reader in the process of writing. So your main objective should be to get across  entirely what you want to say to the reader while reduce, if possible, to the minimum their effort  in reading your piece.

So you should think carefully before employing these highbrow words and phrases. Attempt to wield them may undesirably backfire if it makes some parts of your essay unnecessarily long-winded, or worse, threatens the cohesion of your work.

I recommend that you make sparing and judicious use of them :)

I'd score this essay between 7.5-8.

Best of luck !
