In many countries children are engaged in some kind of paid work. Some people regard this as completely wrong, while others consider it a valuable work experience, which is important for learning and taking responsibility. What is your opinion?

Recently, participation of juveniles in paid jobs has become a highly controversial topic in many different parts of the world. It is understandable why some contend that working during early ages has several negative consequences to children’s health and academic performance. However, I believe that tremendous benefits do derive from this, and this essay will illustrate the merits of this position.

On the one hand, disadvantages may befall on working children. First, industrial accidents could pose major health hazards to these young people, especially who work in inappropriate conditions. Without adequate protection such as helmet, for instance, they can easily find themselves in dangerous situations, which may lead to serious injuries or even terminal disabilities. Second, engaging in a job during schooling periods may have profound effects on a student’s schedule. Such lack of time spent studying can result in a decline in exam success. In addition, leisure time might be taken away from those who have to work for payment.

On the other hand, it can be noticed that juveniles derive a plethora of advantages from such valuable experience, and among the most beneficial is preparation for future career. By doing this, young people are offered chances to enhance their creativity and skillfulness as well as fortify their sense of accountability. To illustrate, they could learn important skills of managing financial problems and taking responsibility for themselves, which provide them with better employment opportunities in the future. Thus, it is clear that paid work accompanying with hands-on experience prepare the youths for the later life and the workforce.

In conclusion, it can be easily seen from above arguments that paid jobs for children have both positive and negative aspects. Hence, there is a dire need for governments all over the world to implement legislations that protect adolescents from the threats of industrial injuries and exploitation.
