While it is argued by some that the construction of more fitness centers will improve the well-being of general public, others believe that this is not an effective approach. I personally side with the latter viewpoint and think that other methods can be taken.

On the one hand, there may be some health benefits resulted in from the increased number of sport infrastructures. Firstly, the emergence of more facilities can make gym goers feel more convenient as they can train in a nearby center. As a result, they are more likely to encourage his acquaintances to take up exercises, leading to a health improvement in the community. Secondly, more services might be offered, and more fitness classes could be opened, attracting a larger influx of fitness enthusiasts in the suburb. Finally, a rise in the number of people working out in these sport centers may create a new culture in which people compete with one another to get in shape. The public health will consequently be enhanced.

On the other hand, I would argue that this approach may appear to have negligibly positive impact on the well-being of people. The first reason is that the construction of more sport centers may not guarantee a reduction in membership fees, hence many people would be discouraged to register into these places. Another reason is that some people have gotten used to a sedentary lifestyle and have a tendency to maintain it. As a result, this demotivates them from getting fit. Despite these possible deterrents, enhancement in public health could be achieved, if the openings of the proposed facilities are coupled with effective advertisements, lower fares, and extra benefits for members.

In conclusion, although the insurgence of more fitness centers seems to have little influence on public health’s improvement, some actions can be carried out to overcome this problem.
